This page documents the opt-in workflow Alcove uses to collect consent for SMS text messages from guests who RSVP to an event. It exists for compliance and carrier-verification review.
Consent is collected on the guest-facing RSVP form, which appears after a guest opens an invitation link from a host (typically delivered by email or shared link). The consent checkbox is presented inline within the RSVP modal, after the guest enters their name and (optionally) their phone number.
The opt-in checkbox is unchecked by default. The guest must actively check it for SMS to be enabled. SMS consent is optional — the guest can complete an RSVP without providing a phone number or opting in.
The following text appears next to the checkbox on the RSVP form:
Below is a live rendering of the opt-in UI as it appears to guests on the Alcove RSVP form:
Alcove is a free invitation platform for personal gatherings (dinners, birthdays, game nights, holiday parties, engagement parties). Hosts create an invitation, send a link to guests, and guests RSVP. SMS messages are strictly transactional and are sent only to guests who have explicitly opted in.
Message types sent:
No marketing messages, no promotional content, no third-party messages. Frequency typically 1–4 messages per event the guest has opted into.
Guests can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any Alcove SMS message. The number is removed from all future SMS sends immediately. Replying HELP returns Alcove's contact email and a link to this page.
Phone numbers are stored only on guests who explicitly opt in. They are used solely to send the transactional messages described above and are never shared with third parties or used for marketing. See our Privacy Policy for full details on data retention and your rights.
